Quilla Mae Smalls was born November 24, 1930 in Plant City, Florida to her parents Henry and Arbrizine Daniels Burney. Quilla later moved to Palmetto, Florida and remained until her passing. Affectionately known in the community as "Mother Quilla", she never met a stranger and was always willing to give the shirt off of her back to help someone else. Mother Quilla was a praying woman and could be heard praying for her family and neighbors at all hours of the night. She was a faithful member of New Life General Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Washington. She was a hardworking woman who had the heart of a servant. Her family was very important to her and she loved to cook. Mother was a entrepreneur and during her free time, she enjoyed crafting.
Mother Quilla is predeceased by her husband Benjamin Smalls Sr. who passed away in 1978. She leaves cherished memories to her children Johnny (Vickie) Smalls Sr. and Jacqueline (Marvin) Kendall; sister Lillie Evans; 23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren,18 great great grandchildren and a host of extended loving family and friends from near and far. Viewing will be held 10:30-11am with Funeral beginning 11am both Saturday, August 9, 2025 at New Life General Baptist Church 609 9th Street West Palmetto, Florida 34221.
