Marcene MacNeill Obituary

Marcene Gay Kohli MacNeill, the daughter of Robert Kohli and Gladys Risner Ferrence, was born in Lima, Ohio on June 10, 1943, and passed peacefully at Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida on October 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Marcene (Marcy) grew up enjoying the lake life in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Southfield High School in 1961. After living briefly in New York, she relocated to Florida in 1963 and chose never to leave the state. Marcy worked in the Real Estate industry as a licensed executive assistant for Rutenberg Homes and Downing-Frye, and later transitioned to the legal field, as a paralegal for local estate and trust attorneys in Naples, Florida.  While growing her family in Naples, Marcene enjoyed participating and competing in bowling, as a member of numerous leagues. After retiring, she devoted her time to volunteering for the local AMVETS and American Legion. She served in numerous board roles, including Secretary and President of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #23. She enjoyed dice games and bingo, and served as the coordinator for the AMVETS bingo games. In her later years, she loved to read novels and enjoyed watching shows on the Game Show Network and Animal Planet. She was always present at her children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and events, as much as she was physically able. Marcene moved to Bradenton, Florida in 2021 to take advantage of the social atmosphere at Woodlands Village Senior Living, where she made many more life connections. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Kohli, her mother Gladys Ferrence, her step father John Ferrence, sister Beverly Kohli Davidson, brother in law Philip Davidson, grandson Clyde Weeks, and great grandson Noah Cleveland. Marcene is survived by her half brother Gary (Linda) Kohli, half sisters Debra Basham and Rebecca Buchanan, daughters Colleen (Richard) Hailey, Brenda (Ricky) Slavens, Melody (Dan) Klein, son Mark (Annie) Shores, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind on this earth, nephews Patrick and Dean, and niece Katie Marie.
