Eugenia White Obituary

Eugenia M. White 87, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, peacefully at home. Known as “Jean” to everyone who knew and loved her, she lived an extraordinary life, which she started as a farm girl in West Virginia on March 7, 1935. Jean was the eldest of ten children altogether. Besides a variety of jobs from factory work to door-to-door sales early in her working career, Jean went on to work as a prison guard at Petuxent Men’s Prison for the State of Maryland, from which she retired after twenty years of service as a CO ll, and a revolver expert. Jean was a member of Happy Gospel Church in Bradenton for 19 years and has many friends and acquaintances there, as well as, a member of the Red Hat Society and Moose Lodge.

Jean was always involved in her community in Manatee County, whether it was a holiday gathering where she lived, a senior lunch or picnic at Church, a family event or otherwise, Jean would be there with her bells and whistles on.

Even in her elder years, Jean was actively engaged in her community, and graduated from multiple Citizen’s Law Enforcement courses with the Manatee Sheriff’s Department. Jean was adored by everyone who knew her and has too many friends to list, whom she loved and appreciated.

A special note of thanks, however, goes to Lavelle Bing of Apostle I Funeral Home, who is a long-time friend and beloved sister in Christ, whom Jean entrusted with her final arrangements, who came in person to her friend at her final hour of need. Thank you, Lavelle. Jean will be dearly missed by many. She is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Floda (Flodi) Nichols, her sisters, Terri and Betty, her brother, Gary, and her eldest son, Robert (Bobby). Jean is survived by her youngest son, Terry, brother Tommy (Cynthia) Nichols, sisters Carol Stalter, Peggy (James) Dubois, and Brenda (Leo) Tuning, Cathy Nichols and Christina Nichols; grandsons, Anthony (Sharon), Jason, Christopher (Allison), Casey, and granddaughter Cassidy. Jean is also survived by her Great-Granddaughters, Mackenzie and Charlotte, and her Great-grandson Anthony Jr. and Cameron and a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family.  A Memorial Service will be held in Jean’s Honor 4PM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Happy Gospel Church. Pastor Bill Bailey will officiate.
