Darrell Ballard Obituary

Darrell J. Ballard was born January 22, 1950 in Union City, Indiana to parents Kenneth and Ruth Ballard.  He worked as a Quality Control Engineer in the Electric Motors industry from 1968-2003. Darrell served as a youth leader at Union Chapel Church in Bryant, Indiana and taught Sunday school at Pine Hills Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Darrell was a faithful member during his later years in Bradenton, Florida at Church of the Cross where he served as a church Elder and Small Group leader. He was a fan of the Indiana Hoosiers Basketball team.  He also enjoyed cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers Baseball Teams.  Outside of the sports arena, He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards (Euchre) and making radio controlled model airplanes.  Darrell passed away July 25, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida and is predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Ruth; brother Hal David Ballard while leaving cherished memories to his wife of 50 years Wanda Ballard; daughter Angela Ballard; brothers Max (Sherry) Ballard and Greg (Sheryl) Ballard; sisters Joy Ballard, Penny (Garth) Ashcraft and Cynthia (Jim) Slagley and several nieces and nephews.  Celebration of Life Service will be held 7pm Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Church of the Cross 5051 26th Street West Bradenton, Florida 34207.  A second service will be held in Indiana 2pm Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Pine Hills Church 4704 Carroll Road Fort Wayne, IN 46818.
