Arthur G. Liverpool, known to many as “Mr. Pool” was born in Brooklyn, New York May 13, 1927 to Joseph and Inez Liverpool. Like so many others who were born during the Great Depression Era, Arthur along with his other siblings were taken by his father to the family’s native island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the very young age of four.
During his early days of growing up in St. Vincent, he was introduced to the piano. Arthur became immediately attached to this instrument and learned to play exceptionally well. In fact, he played piano professionally at the local clubs in his area. During these exciting teenage years, he also met at school the true love of his life, Cora “Lorna” Jackson.
Arthur returned alone to the United States in 1947 at the age of 19. Though they were oceans apart, he maintained his friendship with Lorna.
In 1950, his future wife immigrated to the United States and they were reunited. During that same year, Arthur was drafted into the United States Army and served as a truck driver in an artillery infantry unit. After serving for two years in Korea, Arthur was honorably discharged and was then able to focus on his personal life. Arthur and Lorna wed on November 28, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York. This union resulted in the birth of two sons, Joseph and Ricardo.
Arthur was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mailman for 25 years in Brooklyn and retired in 1989. His intentions were always to return to St. Vincent; The island he loved very much and wanted to retire in, but ultimately he and his wife chose to retire in Bradenton, Florida among their many friends and family.
Arthur spent much of his retirement traveling, serenading his family and friends with his piano and sharing a great deal of time with his grandchildren.
Arthur is survived by Two sons, Joseph (Kathleen) and Ricardo (Giselle); Four grandchildren, Stephen, Danielle, Camille and Lance; Sister Dorothy Liverpool Robinson; One nephew, Alban Beete (Marcelle) and niece, Jolita Robinson and his beloved cat, Brandy.
