Velma Hudson was born March 25, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Essie Mae Hudson and the late John Henry Bowens.

She departed her earthly vessel on Friday, April 28, 2017 in Sarasota, Florida.

Velma attended and graduated from Riverview High School, she later joined the Job Corps for Architectural Design.  Velma enjoyed spending time with her family, a good game of pool, dancing and singing.  Velma worked in the hospitality industry and oftentimes entertained her friends.  Velma was the type of woman who was friends to everyone she met as “she never met a stranger”.  Prior to her passing, Velma received The Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour.

She is preceded in death by her Mother, Essie Mae Hudson, and her Father, John Henry Bowens, and her Brothers, Irvin Prince Jr. and Jeremiah Hudson, and her Sister, Demetrius Hudson.

Velma leaves to cherish her memories of life to Son, Harold Michael Hudson of Sarasota, FL;  Daughter, Tamika Phillips of Charlotte, North Carolina; Godson, Joerie Clemons; Grandchildren, Jasiya and Jasean Phillips; Brothers, William Prince of Sarasota, FL and Alfredo (Debra) Hudson of Miami Lakes, FL;  Sisters, Valinda (Donald) Bowens-Coates of Sarasota, FL and Venetia Bowens Ballard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Aunt, Elizabeth (Leon) Butler and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00pm Saturday,  May 6, 2017 at Trinity Christian Fellowship Center in Sarasota, Florida.
