Steven McCrea Robertson, 47, Bradenton, FL, died after an acute illness on January 9, 2019. Parents are Janie Schember Robertson of Bradenton Beach, FL and Paul Corwin Robertson Jr.(Cheryl) of Birmingham, MI.
He was a 1989 graduate of Cranbrook Academy, Bloomfield Hills, MI and a graduate of Wayne State University, Detroit, MI.
Steve’s interests and abilities were broad and varied: athletic in both team and individual sports; music and accomplished percussionist; photography; avid reader of classics, biographies, philosophy, economics, politics and history; a hiker, biker and camper; accomplished at propagating plumeria trees; good cook; crazy dancer; animal lover; seeker of wisdom through spirituality and study.
He loved kids, always interested in their activities and especially, their education. “Uncle Stever” was a favorite of many. He was most proud of his “little brother” of 11 years, Andrew O’Brien of Bradenton, from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. His own education was broad and diverse. He loved school and being a student. He never stopped learning.
His volunteer work included years on the City of Bradenton Beach Scenic WAVES committee, focusing on mass transit at the County level and dune protection projects.
His professional career ran the gamut from corporate at Volkswagen in Auburn Hills, MI., U.S. Homes in Florida, researching chemical product regulations for world-wide fertilizer markets, establishing small businesses and start-up/managing a home health care company.
He leaves behind 2 brothers, P. Corwin Robertson, III and Mitchell M. Robertson (Debbie), three nephews, one niece and 15 cousins. He is also survived by his step brothers and sisters, Anita Mitton, Lou Leitao (Kathy), Toni Leitao (Lorraine Yu), Gerry Leitao ( Elizabeth), Len Dillon (Pamela), Lyndsey Mauro and Alexandra Ayaub (Michael).
Services will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Christ Church Cranbrook, 470 Church Road, Bloomfield Hills, at 11:00 AM. Visitation at church begins at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be in Grand Haven, Michigan and Birmingham, Michigan.
R.I.P. Steve. May you reach your life-long goal of achieving wisdom. Your precious soul is well-loved.
