Sam Julius Wiggins Jr. was born October 9, 1940 in Monticello, Florida to his late parents Sam Wiggins Sr. (Jacksonville, Florida) and Marie Simmons (Monticello, Florida). He was the second oldest of fifteen children.
Sam worked as a construction worker and drove the bus taking kids to and from school. He was always the life, light and fire for his family as well as those he considered family. He believed, “if you work hard at something, you can achieve much!” Sam enjoyed cooking, fishing, working on cars, and playing just about anything with his grandchildren and children in the neighborhood. He loved football and his Philadelphia Eagles. Most importantly, Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Sam was the type of man that never met a stranger. Everyone was considered family.
He is preceded in death by two sister’s (Marie Wiggins) and (Lillie Mae McCall) five brothers (Michael Wiggins, Bill Simmons, Freddie Simmons (Faye Simmons-Smith), Earnest Simmons & Oscar Simmons Jr. (Yvonne Simmons). His son (Sam Wiggins III) and daughter (Rhoda Johnson). His grandchildren (Ilena and Hezekiah Archie) as well as his great grandson (Dontavious Bundrage Jr.)
He leaves cherished memories to his most beautiful wife of 51 years Valerie Wiggins; daughters: Marie Wiggins (the late John Ford), Samantha Wiggins, Rhonda Wiggins, Theresa Lockhart (Denver Lockhart), Patricia Wiggins, Tammy Wiggins, Rhonda Johnson, LaRhonda Olgesby and LaJhonda Olgesby; sons: Troy Archie (Rebekah Dorman), Denard Richardson (Kearstin Richardson), Stephen Manson (Shavonne Manson) and William Tucker; sisters: Rosalee Porter (Jimmy Porter), Lula Mae Simmons, Ollie Mae Simmons (late David Fuller), Annie Mae Wiggins, Karen Wiggins, Virginia Wiggins and Jeanette Wiggins; brothers: Robert Simmons, Frankie Wiggins and Junius Wiggins; two special brother in laws: Ervin Richardson (Belinda Richardson) and Johnny Richardson (Betty Richardson) two special nieces: Leisa Jones (Carmen Smith) and Twanita Augustine (Jason Augustine); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
