Eddie Lee Thomas Sr. was born August 12, 1955 to Willie and Naomi Thomas in "The Hole in the Wall" East Bradenton, Florida. He married Dorothy Thomas (the love of his life). To this union, two children were born (Eddie Jr. and Nakesha).
During his life, he enjoyed waking up at 3am to go fishing by the lake which was one of his favorite pass time activities. Eddie Lee was known in the Manatee County area as a dedicated football coach who formed the Manatee Bulls and Pal Panther football teams. He was employed by Sedar Hammond for 13 years and Tropicana for 4 years. Later, owning his own tree trimming company for another 20 years. As a football fan, Eddie Lee's favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He was a dedicated member of New Life General Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Washington whom he truly loved. He served on the usher board and focused on spreading the word of God. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Naomi Thomas; siblings Charles Spencer Sr., and Frank "El" Thomas; son Eddie Lee Thomas Jr.
Eddie Lee leaves cherished memories to his loving wife Dorothy "Dot" Thomas; daughter Nakesha Thomas; grandchildren Dwayne (Ann) Blue, Kelvet (Alexandria) Fuller, Keondra (Amos Smith) Thomas, Desmond Blue, Thomas Kelly, Dakeveya Thomas and Marquise (Takisha) Murray; brothers Bernard Newson, Leonard Newson and Irvin Newson; sister Willa May Thomas and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, great grandchildren and friends. Viewing will be held 6-8pm Friday, January 19, 2024 at the funeral home with Celebration of Life Service 11am Saturday, January 20, 2024 at New Life General Baptist Church 609 9th Street West Palmetto, Florida 34221.
